Palm Springs
by Carol Kicinski on May 7, 2008
It’s been such a long break between posts I feel I must make up some really interesting excuses like I was abducted by a band of roving gypsies, whisked away to the Hungarian outback and force fed goulash until I learned to dance and shake the tambourine like a native. Well since I lack gypsy rhythm it took a really long time. But now I could put my children and yours through not only collage but graduate school with the loose change I rack in gypsy dancing.
Or I could tell you the truth! It is that time of the year when people get married, graduate from school, have company picnics and the like and I have been one busy
event planner!
But it hasn’t been all work. I am currently in Palm Springs visiting my wonderful hubby where he is hard at work.
My first day here we hopped in our little rent a car (which the hubby fondly refers to as a roller skate!) and drove to take a tram up a mile and a half to the top of a mountain with spectacular views if the valley below.
Now I am a shorts wearing, tank top sporting, flip-flop shod Florida girl these days. I packed in about 2 and a half minutes to get here so my wardrobe choices were limited to say the least. And this is Palm Springs. It is supposed to be hot here!
When I noticed other people getting in the tram dressed in jeans, fleece hoodies and insulated vested I thought what I always do when someone does something contrary to my own reality of the situation. I thought “What, are these guys nuts?!”
So you can imagine my surprise when we arrive at the top of the mountain to find – yep – SNOW! SNOW!!!!
Hmmm, I wonder what the rest of the trip has in store for me?
