As we come to the close of the first decade of this new millennium I have taken a second to reflect on the past ten years.

The world has changed. Socialites and celebrities have replaced politicians and world leaders as the mainstay of the press. Shoes and purses have gained such importance that some view them as how we should be defined rather than by our views and actions. Communication has become lightening fast and we can chat with people across continents and oceans with a few quick strokes of the key board. Words have been replaced with acronyms; OMG and WTH have entered the collective lexicon.

Personally this past decade was a bit of a roller-coaster ride, sometimes frightening, often exhilarating. Our finances rose and fell with the economic climate, family members passed away but more were added with marriages and births. My husband and I traveled the world both as tourists and volunteers. We saw countries so ravaged with poverty and disease we could not help but be grateful for the safety and security we do posses. We also meet so many truly inspirational people it challenged us to do more, be more and help more.

With each passing day I have come closer to being the person I always thought I was meant to be. For years I struggled with the question of what I want to be when I grow up. When I found I was grown up and still unclear on the answer I was unsettled. Ironically it was by taking my attention off looking for an answer and taking responsibility for my own health and happiness that I found the answer. What started as a little hobby, my blog, has lead to me an unexpected passion that has rewarded me in more ways than I can count.  Who knew that cutting gluten out of my life and writing about it would open so many doors?

You, my blog readers, have been the greatest reward. I appreciate and value each and every one of you.

I hope this coming year and decade are filled with dreams come true, magic and hope for all of you.

Thank you for allowing me into your gluten free lives and for entering into mine.

Good-bye 2009, Hello 2010.

Sweet thank you post, Carol. It's amazing how much can happen in a year's time and what a year can give one. :-)

Thanks for your blog! It's always an enjoyable read even when you don't share one of your delectable recipes. ;-)

Best for 2010!

Shirley
