Dr. Alessio Fasano

Dr. Alessio Fasano is a world-reknowned pediatric gastroenterologist, research scientist and entrepenuer. In 1996 Dr. Fasano founded the University of Marlyand Center for Celiac Research.

The Center for Celiac Research uses state of the art tools, techniques, and clinical expertise in order to diagnose and treat patients with food allergies.

Dr. Fasano has completed extensive research, and enjoys working with peers from various nations. His 200 published peer-reviewed papers and 160 filed patent  applications are a testament to his endeavors.

He has been featured in many interviews from various sources such as: The Wall Street Journal, NPR, New York Times Magazine, Bloomberg News, USA Today, Los Angeles Times, and “Good Morning America”.  

Dr. Fasano is known by his peers, and the gluten free community in general to be a leading light in the world of food allergies because of his amount of research and accomplishments.

Dr. Fasano’s work has earned him many awards, such as being named as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly for five consecutive years (2007-2011).

Dr. Fasano completed his medical training at the University of Naples, before founding the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition in 1993.
