Neutralize acid reflux with AlkaWonder

Got GERD? If you have celiac disease, you might.

According to a 2011 study, GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) symptoms are common in those with classically symptomatic untreated celiac disease. Around 30 percent of the celiac patients in their study had moderate to severe GERD, compared with 5.7 percent of the control group. A gluten-free diet led to symptom improvement within 3 months, which is good news! If you’ve experienced acid reflux before you started a gluten-free diet and struggle with it from time to time, or if you still have uncontrolled acid reflux, there are plenty of options you can try that may help alleviate your troubles.

  • Quit smoking.
  • If you’re overweight/obese, lose weight through diet and exercise.
  • Eat smaller meals.
  • Do not lie down after eating.
  • Avoid acidic foods like alcohol, coffee, carbonated drinks and acidic juices.
  • Try a diet rich in alkaline foods and natural alkaline water, like AlkaWonder.

What is alkaline water?

Water that is 8 or higher on the pH scale is considered alkaline. The pH scale goes from zero to 14 – zero being completely acidic, seven being neutral, and 14 being completely alkaline (also called basic). To put that into perspective:

  • Human stomach acid – between 1.5 and 3.5 pH.
  • Sodas, processed cheeses, and sausages – 3 pH.
  • Brown rice, unsalted butter, and average tap water – 7 pH.
  • Baking soda and many green vegetables – 10 pH.

Alkaline water can be beneficial for many health issues, including acid reflux. A study published in the Annals of Otology, Rhinology, & Laryngology found that water with a pH of 8.8 made pepsin, which causes acid reflux, inactive. In addition, the study found it has good acid-buffering capacity.

AlkaWonder offers naturally alkaline bottled water, with a pH of 9.4, that comes from a pristine spring at the foot of the Western Carpathian Mountains in Romania and gets filtered through layers of 145-million-year-old stones. This water is naturally alkaline, as opposed to artificially alkaline water which doesn’t stay alkaline for very long. Naturally alkaline water retains its pH.
