Spicy Mango Margarita Recipe
I’m writing this on a Friday and so far it’s been a good day, so I’m contemplating whipping up one of these Spicy Mango Margaritas right now to make it a great day! I figure since we’re getting into the festive spirit of Cinco de Mayo and all I have on the brain lately are tacos, might as well get a jump start on the celebration.
What better way to complement tacos than with a margarita? This one is spicy and sweet, thanks to the heat from a chili pepper and the sweet from mango mixed with Cointreau and agave. For this recipe, I used Health Garden’s blue agave. Health Garden is a company that offers a full line of low-glycemic sweeteners.
The icing on the cake – or rather, the seasoning on the rim – is Tajín seasoning. It’s a delicious, bold seasoning that contains chili powder, salt, and lime. If you don’t have this, you can just combine chili powder with kosher or fine sea salt.

- 4 ounces sliver tequila
- 2 ounces fresh lime juice , plus more for rimming the glasses
- 4 tablespoons Health Garden Blue Agave
- 1 tablespoon Cointreau
- 1 heaping cup frozen mango chunks , un-thawed
- 1 red chili pepper , seeded and roughly chopped
- 2 teaspoons Tajín (chili lime salt seasoning)
Combine the tequila, lime juice, agave, Cointreau, mango, and chili pepper in a blender and process on high seed until fully combined. You will still see little flecks of the chili pepper.
Can be served immediately or refrigerated for a few hours.
When ready to serve, pour the Tajín onto a small plate. Rim two glasses with lime juice, then dip into the Tajín. Pour the margaritas into the glasses and serve.
