Recommends: Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur
Ever have a whiskey cooler? Blueberries or blackberries mashed and strained, mixed with whiskey and simple syrup – it’s divine! Well, I recently tried Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur and thought that would be an excellent addition to cocktails, especially those using whiskey or maybe for drinks where you just want a touch of alcohol but not too much.
Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur is, of course, a honey-based liqueur. Made with 225 grams of honey per 750 mL bottle and with 35% alc./vol, this liqueur is sweet as honey but with a bit of a kick! And here’s a fun fact for you: dating back to 18th Century Germany, this honey liqueur recipe was formulated to lure bears out of their dwellings by hunters. Well, now it lures people out of their dwellings and to the liquor store to buy it!
You can definitely taste the honey in Bärenjäger Honey Liqueur, making it a good option to use in place of simple syrup, or even as a sweetener in hot or cold tea to give it a bit of a spike. While not as sweet as simple syrup, it’s still a good alternative. Are you a fan of an alcohol version of an Arnold Palmer? Try adding honey liqueur! The options are endless and the recipes on their site look delicious, so check them out.
