Jen Peñas is The Cocktail Lady. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area as an only child and still lives in the Bay Area with her husband and 4 amazing children; the older two boys and the younger two girls. She is an avid San Francisco Giants fan and enjoys watching them play either at the park or at home on the TV.

Being a busy stay-at-home mother of four, she enjoys the daily cooking, cleaning, driving around and playing time she gets with all four of her children. She thoroughly enjoys cheering for her children on the sidelines at their baseball and soccer games as well at Tae Kwon Do classes. When she’s not doing that, she’s busy being a professional photographer as she has shot both home and hospital births, monthly first-year photos, school pictures, family photos and engagement shoots.

Growing up neither Jennifer nor her husband ever had any food allergies of any kind. Jen’s one allergy to grass was nothing to complain about. When her second son was born the world of food allergy was introduced to her. As a baby he could not handle regular infant formula, therefore they had to switch to soy formula. Once he was off the bottle, she would give him soy milk as regular milk would not sit right in his stomach. He had a bit of baby asthma as well as a LOT of eczema (which she found out was common with those who have a tree nut allergy). When he was 2 they found out that he had a tree nut allergy, which changed the way they shopped and cooked. Reading labels and learning about this allergy were their top priority.

Now that they have been living with their son’s tree nut allergy for 6 years, they have got their daily routine down and rarely have any problems. Her son’s allergy had opened up her eyes to a whole new world of food allergy that she never really understood.

Jen was given a challenge in February of 2012 to find, make, taste and write about one cocktail each and every day for an entire year. The best thing about it is that she had started this challenge on a Leap Year! She has been introduced to many types of liquors, liqueurs and cocktail mixes that she never knew existed as well as some very interesting cocktail recipes. With her challenge, she has been able to combine two things she enjoys together as one, which are her photography and a good cocktail. Jen is more than half-way done with her challenge and is excited to continue blogging and writing online. You can find her at A Year Of Cocktails and follow her on her 366 day journey!

Once online, she quickly learned SEO, and her website now receives over 1000 impressions a day. She has been approached by a number of high-end alcohol companies for product placement and endorsement opportunities. Active on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest, Jen’s reach is over 10,000 people, mostly other busy Moms who are looking for a bit of relaxation at the end of a long day.

Jen enjoys her family time as well as time with friends. She has a huge heart and loves to help people. She is always laughing or cracking jokes and nothing makes her happier than spending quality time with her husband and children.
